Sebastopol Geese History

Sebasatopol geese are stunning geese that have long, curly feathers that elegantly drape from their wings, body, and tail. It is thought that they originated from areas surrounding the Black Sea, Hungary, and the Balkans. The American Poultry Association officially recognized them in 1938.

We were intrigued by a video of Oliver the Sebastopol goose playing the piano (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AjTOuGLJYc). Due to their beautiful looks Revelation Ranch began purchasing Sebastopols in 2016. Since then we have grown to a large skein of geese.

These geese are shy and calm, but will alert the surrounding poultry to any threats. When intentional time is spent with them daily, they are social and interactive with their “person.”

We have breeding pair hatched in March 2022. They are expected to be medium size (12-14# as adults). They need protection at night, and temperature modification when it is very cold or extremely hot. They should have access to a good swimming source daily.
